BrightBuilt Barn was the first of the BrightBuilt Homes. In 2006, Keith Collins, the founder of BrightBuilt Home, in collaboration with Kaplan Thompson Architects, wanted to design a super efficient, net-zero structure as a work studio. This design evolved into the three available BrightBuilt Barn models today: office|studio, one bedroom and the two bedroom model. All BrightBuilt Barn models offer possible net-zero energy design with super insulated, air-tight construction, optimized window design and roof mounted photo-voltaic electricity generation. The home is LEED Platinum eligible. The design anesthetic is barn modern, with traditional vertical board and batten cedar siding and standing seam metal roofing. Inside, the home is designed for functionality, with open spaces, thoughtful design and strategic storage.
